Audi is one of the world’s foremost makers of luxury vehicles, and is based in Ingolstadt, Germany. Its name is derived from the Latin translation of the last name of its founder, August Horch – it means 'hear' in German, which becomes “audi” in Latin. The four rings of the Audi logo each represent one of four car companies that joined to create Audi's predecessor company, Auto Union. These were Audi, DKW, Horch (August Horch’s first company), and Wanderer. Post-war, the company’s small two-stroke cars were far from the luxury offerings it builds now. Throughout the 1960s, Volkswagen took an ever-larger holding in Audi, and has developed it into a luxurious brand. Audi is also known throughout motorsport, having turned rallying upside down with its Quattro, and using its technology to revolutionise many areas of racing, including touring cars, Le Mans, and Pikes Peak.

A good service manual is invaluable to the shade-tree mechanic. To me, working on my motorcycles is almost as enjoyable, and therapeutic, as riding them. Here we have a factory Yamaha manual. To be honest, I have had factory manuals with which I was less than impressed.
I often prefer aftermarket manuals like those made my Chilton, because they seem more geared to the common user. However, I have had a Yamaha factory manual (for a YZF1000 that I used to own), and I was very impressed. The manual was thorough, complete, and useable. That usability factor is the key to a good manual. Some factory-produced manuals are too technical and too focused for use by factory-trained technicians. That is not what I found with my manual produced by Yamaha.
Yes, it covered things that I would never do myself, but it was written to all skill levels. This manual will include all the information needed for the full spectrum of repairs. Of course, it will cover basic maintenance such as oil changes and chain adjustments. However, it will also cover more advanced service information such as valve adjustments and even complete overhauls. Obviously, the user will have to decide what level of service he or she is capable of tackling. If you plan on working on your motorcycle, get a good manual. This Yamaha manual is a good one.

The service manual is a good resource to have, but even at $89USD I wonder if it's worthwhile? With all the information available online and the You Tube. Is there anything (practically speaking) in the factory manual that can't be found elsewhere for free?
2005 Fjr Service Manual
I'd like to know all the important torque specs for my '16ES which I can't seem to find, but really. Do I want to pay $89USD to find out.? I suppose I could pay the $14 for the 30 day kindle file and just go through it and write down/make a list of the data I want. I think the FJR FSM is a very well written service manual and I use mine for such things as how to test and cycle the ABS braking system and how to service the rear shock with dog bone mounting assembly. Also good to have should you need diagnostics info.

Only thing I don't like is the wiring diagram and I use a Haynes manual for that. Good to have both. Also, compared to BMW service manuals $89 is more than fair and far better written, imo. They even give torque specs in both systems which is a nice touch. BMW could learn a few things.
I should say that my bike, being a gen2, might be a touch more serviceable than your gen3 for such things as diagnostics without other test fixtures which to me is a big plus for the gen2 bikes.
I am searching for a.searchable. PDF version of both the FJR1300 (Gen 3) User Manual and also Service Manual. Unfortunately the official User Manual from the Yamaha web site is not searchable I have also purchased both the paperback versions of the Yamaha FJR1300 service manual and Haynes Yamaha FJR1300 Service and Repair Manual: 2001‑2013 - unfortunately both are printed versions. I really would prefer an electronic version (eg PDF) that is searchable. Thank you - Cameron If you buy me a service manual I will personally make a PDF version for you. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk.
They are fucking illegal, the question shouldn't be asked on a Forum. Ken - SERIOUSLY.!!!???
As you can see from my post, I have legally purchased all the paper printed versions of the manuals. I am searching for a legally purchased edition of the Service Manual (and Users Manual, if available) in electronic version which I can use to search by keyword, etc.
If you read my post you would have noticed that I have purchased and legally own all the printed manuals, I just want (prefer) an electronic version.common man. No there are no legal copies of the service manual available. And as I said I've only seen 1 official FJR manual. Pdf cd given to an outback dealer.
If you are desperate make your own and buy a scanner. I did a pdf of things important to me and stored them on my Zumo originally.
Never needed it. My FJR's have never played up on tour. Being a disabled pensioner I could do such a thing now?
I suppose it's legal making a legitimate copy for yourself?? I scanned my 1978 XS1100 owners manual for Yamaha to use on their site.
